The best foodie breaks and days out in the UK
Planning a break or a day out around fantastic food and drink is a great way to discover new places and destinations as well as delicious things to eat and drink. The UK is proud of the incredible produce and products you can find here, and it's so easy to find fabulous places to visit to try them for yourself.
Unique food and drink experiences
If you're a fan of cheese, you must head to Cheddar in Somerset to taste it. A few miles away, at Wookey Hole Caves, guests can view Wookey Hole Cave-Aged Cheddar as it matures in the legendary caves 200 feet beneath the Mendip Hills! Treat yourself to a cheese and cider tasting for the ultimate experience. This way, you'll also be sampling another Somerset speciality: cider.
Talking of cider, you'll probably know that Herefordshire is well known for this popular refreshing drink - learn all about it at the Cider Museum in Hereford - but it might surprise you to discover that the area is also producing some amazing wines. We can certainly recommend a vineyard tour and wine tasting there. If gin or spirits are more your tipple, then a distillery tour is something you should add to your foodie day out. The UK has so many fantastic distilleries; many offer tours and tastings, and bringing home a bottle or two is a fantastic way to remember your trip.
There's another delicious regional treat that you have to plan a day trip around, and that's the Bath Bun. It's the perfect excuse to explore the beautiful Regency city of Bath. Of course, if cakes tickle your fancy, then adding an afternoon tea to any outing is a great idea.
Food and drink gift shoppingFood and drink also make brilliant gifts, and a trip to a food festival or food or drink producer is a fun day out, combining shopping with your culinary-inspired experience.
